Syria has a strategic location in the middle east and controlling
wide space of the sky that connect Eastern Europe, Turkey and Russia with the
middle east, Syria FIR is safe for commercial and Business airlines to cross, using
Syria FIR is strategic and reducing costs for several airlines around the world
therefore, several international airliners like, Middle East Airlines, Qatar
Airways, Aeroflot, Iraqi Airways and several other airlines are operating their
flights via Syria FIR.
Syria Civil Aviation authority is providing permits to
overflight and Landing, for the local agents only who are authorized to provide
aviation services in Syria. Generally, no CAA charges applied for overflight or
landing permit in Syria, but local agents are imposing some fees to cover
stamps, administration and other communication charges.
Syria Air navigation fees are collectable by Syria Civil
Aviation authority, and it shall be invoiced via the local agent who obtained
the permit for the flight, Syria CAA issues the Navigation fees based on Aircraft
MTOW as per the following Table:

Syria CAA invoices Navigation along with their AFTN fees, in
September 2019, Syrian Ministry of transport have issued an announcement to
adding 3% of the total invoice as AFTN communication charges.
